With many AS students attempting the House variation of Task 1C, they could do worse than look at this tutorial on the use and creation of Pitched Risers, from Future Music magazine. A riser can give your transitions a boost, and let the listener know that things are going to change.

The amazing Scott Bradlee has taken one of our 1C songs and turned it into a smooth 70s groove!

Mr Dunne’s current obsession, ScottBradleeLovesYa on YouTube is a fantastic example of taking songs and transforming them into a range of styles. Check out Iggy Azalea’s ‘Fancy’ as 1920s jazz, Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’ as 60s doo wop , and many more. Here is some ‘transforming’ to get you started!

A quick demo to show off some 90s trance features. Synths used include DUNE, TAL Noisemaker, FMMF. FM synths and de-/fine-tune were useful, and most of it is very hard-quantised. The drums are samples from a large trance pack which I’ve pitch-shifted and EQed. There’s a touch of reverb and delay here and there and Program EQ was used on the master track to give it a bit of depth. Here it is in Reaper; Soundcloud below:

Here is the original!
